Given the high frequency that bipolar patients will also be taking diverse medications for similarly chronic medical disorders, the authors pragmatically discuss both direct interactions and consequences for organ function of common drugs, e.g., lithium and its renal effects in the face of concurrent ACE inhibitors. The consequences of aging on lithium-renal function parameters are similarly usefully discussed in the text.
